Note that well-written letters of recommendation are not an overnight process, and each student is written an original letter. As a result, you are encouraged - when possible - to provide a 1-month advance notice if you would like a letter.

• Specific Qualities & Anecdotes

  • Why me? Did you have remarkable memories from class? Remind me of what / how you interacted with me and your peers, and it can be mentioned. Make sure that you are the subject. 

  • Do you want specific qualities highlighted that you couldn't write in your application? Mention them, and maybe they can be weaved them in.

• Resume / Curriculum Vitae

  • Ensure that this is up to date and fully presentable.

• Personal Essays

  • Many applications ask for a statement of purpose or personal history statement. Including this will help me personalize your letter of recommendation.

• List of Deadlines

The more information that's provided, the more thorough / strong the letter.
